My stepsister, Julie, was married this weekend to her incredible husband, Jared. I could not be happier for them as they start this new chapter of their lives together. Jared's beautiful daughter, Claire, made a gorgeous flower girl carrying a bouquet of simple white daisies tied with blue satin ribbon. The ceremony took place among an intimate circle of about 40 friends at the lakeside home of a friend in Henderson Harbor, NY with the sound of the waves crashing behind them. A tented reception followed for a larger group of about 150 family and friends at Jared's brother's home where Julie had worked with the caterer to provide an excellent meal of summer favorites including grilled chicken and salt potatoes. The bride opted to wear baby blue, perfectly in keeping with her personality, and the entire affair was joyous, simple, and especially budget friendly. It was one of the simplest and yet one of the most extraordinary weddings I have ever had the pleasure of attending.
The bride, Julie, and her mother prior to the ceremony.
Her dress was an off-the-rack bridesmaid dress from a local bridal shop.
The groom being tended to by his mother. She finished pinning on his boutonniere and he declared, "Ok, let's do this!" It was that simple.
Drift wood, candles, and a simple vase of calla lilies make the perfect altar along the break wall.
The flower girl, Jared's daughter Claire, and the ring bearer, Julie's nephew, make their way down the aisle. The rings were tied to the ribbons streaming from Jaymison's pacifier.
Claire's perfect little bouquet. She carried it with her all day and night.
Husband, wife and daughter for the very first time. Perfectly happy and perfectly tear-jerking.
